Câncer de mama em homens: estudo de 13 casos

Os autores realizaram um levantamento estatístico sobre a incidência do câncer de mama
masculino no período de agosto de 1989 a julho de 2002 no Hospital Universitário Oswaldo
Cruz e no Instituto de Mama do Recife, Recife-PE. Foram analisados 430 pacientes, sendo 13
com câncer de mama. A idade média foi de 65 anos, sendo que a maioria dos casos se encontrava no estádio II. O tratamento administrado foi, em linhas gerais, cirurgia, quimioterapia,
radioterapia e hormonoterapia, tal como para o câncer da mama feminina, com bons resultados. Neste trabalho vê-se a necessidade de sempre investigar a possibilidade de câncer nas
lesões de mama masculina, a fim de se conseguir um diagnóstico mais precoce.
