Methodological Article

Methodological article

This section seeks to identify potential methodological articles that could influence future publications or shape research-related behaviors.

In this context, we must highlight the Equator Network website (https://www.equator-network.org), which presents us with the main methodologies for constructing scientific articles.

We will begin this section by presenting an article published in 2020 in Mastology, which aims to organize strict criteria for the evaluation and selection of studies at Medical Congresses.

This article ”Criteria for evaluating studies at scientific medical events” constitutes a methodological innovation and presents general guidelines for quantifying studies, selecting four formats: clinical studies, case reports, molecular biology studies, and scientific videos. The distribution of the requirements was based on the hierarchy of scientific methodology, ethics, study design, originality, public/social practice, complexity, rarity, and innovation. Studies that discuss these aspects and present us with evaluation criteria are limited.

This study selection model has been used in since 2024, and was used in 20th and 21th Jornada Paulista de Mastologia, at the BBCS/2025, XVII Brazilian Congress of Surgical Oncology and 28thCongress of Mastology- BBCS/2026. It proved to be easy to implement, optimizing the logistics related to the evaluation of the studies, showing effective for scoring and classification of studies.
