PCNA as prognostic factor of brcast câncer clinicai stage II
Keywords:
immunohistochemistry, Breast câncer, PCNA, Prognostic factorAbstract
The purpose of this work was to study the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) of
women with breast câncer clinicai stage II and correlate it with the patienfs evolution. A
retrospective study of 74 women from the mastology ciinic at the São Francisco University
Hospital in Bragança Paulista was carried out. These women were treated with surgery, and
those who presented axillary lymphonodal involvement received adjuvant therapy with
chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormonetherapy. The average follow-up was 68.7 months
and the average age was 53.1 years (range: 30-82 years o/d). Regarding the overall survival
and disease-free survivai there was no significant difference from these resuits. We conduded
that the PCNA should not be considered a prognostic factor, in our cases, for patients with
breast câncer clinicai stage II.
