Abstract

8401 axillary lymph nodes removed from 500 patients treated by radical mastectomies for operable breast cancer were reviewed. The purpose was to evaluate the involvement of the nodes with the age, courge of the disease, size and site of the primary tumor of the breast, its histologic type and sinus histiocytosis. The correlations between the clinical and pathologic findings were also studied. The anatomic distribution of metastatic nodes within the axilia was analyzed by levels.
