Abstract

Os autores relatam a importância dos fatores prognósticos no tratamento do câncer de
mama. Observam que os dados clínicos e os parâmetros anátomo-patológicos são insuficientes
para estimar o prognóstico, particularmente quando os linfonodos axilares apresentam-se
livres de comprometimento neoplásico. Evidenciam que nos recentes anos as pesquisas buscam
espelhar a agressividade tumoral através das informações da fração de crescimento tumoral e
das células em proliferação. Fazem uma revisão dos marcadores de atividade proliferativa e
apresentam um novo polipeptídeo, identificável em material parafinado, facilmente adaptável
à rotina laboratorial e que apresenta resultados altamente significativos quando correlacionados
com os fatores prognósticos.
