Apoptose na involução da glândula mamária

Preparando-se para a lactação, a glândula mamária sofre várias modificações estruturais
e funcionais. Após a amamentação, com a estase do leite e a queda hormonal (hormônios
esteróides, progesterona, prolactina), a mama tende a voltar ao seu estágio anterior à gestação. Esta involução mamária envolve remodelação da matriz extracelular (MEC) e perda de
células. A remodelação da MEC é dependente da ação de enzimas proteolíticas produzidas
localmente. A degradação da MEC altera a interação do epitélio glandular e da matriz extracelular
adjacente e atua no mecanismo de involução glandular. A diminuição do número de células
ocorre através da apoptose, um fenômeno de morte celular programada dependente de fatores intracelulares e da interação célula/meio externo. Participam desse processo de morte
celular programada vários genes reguladores da sobrevivência celular, como os genes da família bcl 2 e o gene p53. Podemos observar células em apoptose através do método Túnel, que
identifica a fragmentação do DNA das células glandulares. Nessa revisão da literatura procura- mos entender melhor o complexo mecanismo de apoptose na involução da glândula mamária.
