REPOSIÇÃO HORMONAL NA MENOPAUSA E RISCO DE CÂNCER DE MAMA

Os autores tecem considerações sobre a polêmica associação entre a terapêutica de reposição
hormonal e a maior incidência do câncer de mama. Em sucinta revisão da literatura apontam os
principais argumentos contrários e favoráveis, tanto do ponto de vista biológico como
epidemiológico. Em face às estimativas imprecisas do risco relativo, todas as conclusões dos
estudos epidemiológicos atuais são aceitas com reservas. Considerando riscos e benefícios, a
reposição hormonal não deve ser negada às mulheres climatéricas. No entanto, o uso
indiscriminado de hormônios e a sua prescrição sem orientação médica são criticáveis.
