Fibroadenoma in a patient carrying Poland's syndrome

Abstract

Described in 1841 by Alfred Poland, the Poland
's
syndrome is a rare congênita/ patho/ogy
which is characterized by major and minor pectora/is muscles hypop/asia or aplasia, mammary
g/and and nipple hypop/asia or aplasia, cartilage and rib disorders. The syndrome can be
presented full or partia/, with an estimated frequency of1:30,000 Hve births. Th/s case report
refers to a woman who at physical examination presented major and minor pectoralis muscles
aplasia, mammary gland hypoiasia and a tumor with benign features in right hemithorax. The
histopathological examination is fibroadenoma compatible. She was sent to plastic surgery to
correction ofthe esthetic disorders.
