Abstract

he early detection of breast câncer using mammography as screening method
lowered 30% breast carcinoma mortality in women over 50 years and also, allowing
conservative procedures.
Mammography sensitivity has limitations in younger patients witli dense fibroglandular tissue.
Scintimammography is suitable as a complementary method to mammography in
patients with dense breasts, but has low sensitivity in lesions minor that one centimeter
in diameter.
